Job Summary
The Mechanical Field Engineer will be responsible for interfacing between the cross-functional engineering groups and the construction site team. This position is an integral part of the site construction team at the project site, responsible for ensuring adherence to all engineering construction plans and specifications in support of the project schedule.
The Mechanical Field Engineer provides construction site engineering resources and expertise during construction phases of projects to interpret or adjust designs to mitigate construction delays. This role ensures that all construction activities strictly comply with design engineering requirements to safely deliver power assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Oversight: Reviews all design drawings/specifications and conducts daily field inspections to ensure that construction and start-up activities comply with design engineering requirements.
- Design & Issue Resolution: Interprets plans and specifications to support construction, working closely with home office engineering, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and vendors to expedite Request for Information (RFI) answers and resolve complex design issues.
- Documentation & Redlines: Manages the accurate documentation and distribution of all design changes (redlines) and field modifications, working directly with subcontractors to assemble start-up work packages.
- Project Reporting: Prepares daily construction-related and miscellaneous reports for project management to provide necessary data for project submittals, layouts, and schedules.
Qualifications
10 years of related experience with mechanical installations on industrial projects, with a strong preference for large-scale power plant experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a demonstrated combination of equivalent education, training, and field experience is required. The role demands a highly motivated individual capable of operating under limited direction to apply industrial mechanical expertise to complex projects.
Technical Skills
Technical knowledge of large-scale power generation infrastructure, specifically Simple Cycle Power Plants utilizing GE turbine technology. They must be proficient in applying industrial construction standards, concepts, and advanced engineering techniques to solve mechanical installation problems. Strong expertise in interpreting complex design drawings, managing structural/mechanical submittals, and aligning field modifications with overarching project schedules is essential.
Requirements
- Travel: Ability to travel 75% to 100% of the time, often on short notice, to project sites globally, sometimes for extended durations.

- Valid jurisdictional driver license.
- Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
- Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by the corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Job Requirements
